Since no evidence was given either in OVA 3 nor in GXP, I've been wondering. What does Seto use for her ship key? Is it her fan? What about the others? I
doubt Sasami needs one since she's bonded with "her tree" on a more substantial level, and Ayeka has her tiara. But what of the others? Just a
bit of trivia I've been curious about.

Seto's key is indeed her fan, and Sasami's key was seen in episode 2 of the original series.
Funaho and Misaki's keys are their haircombs, while Azusa has an artificial eye (his right one, IIRC). |

Ah, cool. Thanks. ^_^ Do you know what Noike and Kiriko use? Regarding Sasami's key in ep2, I thought that was made for her by Ayeka so she could control
the Ryu-oh's functions when she needed to?

Key's are a little iffy. For instance, Azusa's key to Funaho is his eye, that was given to him by Mitsuki. But he also wielded Tenchi-ken for awhile.
Seto's key may be her fan, but it may also be her ear ring, which has this nice purple gem. Note that purple gems are crytallized tree sap. Ayeka has one in the center of her tiara. As for Tenchi-Ken, there is some debate about where this key fits into the scheme of things, since it doesn't seem to be related to one tree. Some have said it's from Tsunami, but this doesn't explain how it wound up in Azusa's hands. If it were the master key to all trees, what was a member of the Masaki family (and one who had only recently come back to Jurai) doing with it? Shouldn't it have been in the Emperor's hand? There's plenty of speculative answers (i.e., prospective emperor with first generation tree get's the key ; Seto gave it to him much like Obi_wan gave Luke his father's light saber, etc.), but no factual answer. |

it's been established that the Tenchi-ken is a master key, so that means it's either a key for a first generation tree, or Tsunami herself. Since there
are only so many first gen trees partnered, it should be a simple process of elimination. To a point, at least. Azusa's is his eye, so that's his tree
out. It's been established that Azusa was wielding the Tenchi-ken before Yosho was partnered with a tree, so that's his out. So that leaves Seina's
seed, as well as four possible first gen trees: Masaki Minaho, Masaki Amame, the 1st Emperor of Jurai, and his sister, Masaki. And if I remember
correctly, isn't one or two first gen tree seeds unaccounted for? That's five (or six) trees that it might come from, not counting Tsunami.

There is another tree people forget about, and that is the Tenju (heaven's tree). Perhaps the Tenchi-Ken came from the discarded body of Tsunami?
